300 good reasons
The reasons why people enjoy working nights are as varied as our team. Find out why colleagues deliberately choose the night shift - and why many stay with us for years.
From hospitality
“Before wilkon I worked in service, so dealing with guests comes easily to me and I really enjoy it. Working nights is a bit quieter though, and right now that fits my life situation really well.” (Tariq, 54, Hamburg)
Night-shift bonuses
“Shall I be honest? I do this job because at night I take home more net pay than in my old job. With the tax-free night-shift bonuses, you really notice it in your account.” (Luka, Munich, 29)
Fits around studying
“I’m studying at the moment, but I have to pay for it myself. So I looked for a job that fits well around my studies. And at the hotel where I work, it’s usually pretty relaxed.” (Mateusz, 23, Frankfurt)
After a break
“Because of my children I didn’t work for quite a while. That played no role in my application. Going straight back into the day shift would have been too stressful for me. At night there’s less going on and the guests are a bit more relaxed.” (Larissa, 41, Cologne)
Active retirement
“Before retirement I travelled a lot for work. Hotels always fascinated me. I know how to deal with international guests, and you come across some fascinating stories here. I like that.” (Wolfgang, 68, Leipzig)
Single parent
“I’m a single parent, I want to work full-time but still be home when my children get back from school. While they’re at school I can sleep. In the evening I put the kids to bed and then head off to work.” (Sofía, 24, Vienna)
Happy working alone
“Once the last guests leave the bar, it gets really quiet in my hotel. I can then work through the other tasks in peace and fully concentrate on them. During the day that would be too stressful for me.” (Nikos, 59, Nuremberg)

A common misconception
Some people confuse our service with temporary staffing. But wilkon works differently in Night Audit. And that comes with decisive advantages for you.
On your own responsibility - but never left alone!
It’s true: in most hotels you’re the only person holding the fort on the night shift. But whenever you have questions or face a critical situation, you can rely on wilkon. Every night, at any hour.

And our honest answers
Where will I be assigned?
You start out at a single hotel and get to know everything there at your own pace. Once you’ve successfully completed the training phase, you’ll look after at least two hotels. Many of our Nighties are happy to look after three or even four – it brings variety and you get to know different teams and hotels.
Will I then be employed directly by the hotel?
Can I also work part-time?
Yes, very gladly! With us almost anything is possible – from two shifts a week to classic full-time. We always work with fixed, guaranteed volumes. For example: 16–18 shifts per month (depending on the number of hours you want). That gives you planning certainty and no “sometimes more, sometimes less”.
Can I always have weekends off?
In the hotel industry there’s something going on every single day of the year. We take your preferences very seriously every month and try to accommodate them as best we can. Out of fairness to the whole team, however, we can’t always guarantee that you’ll have, say, every weekend off. Many Nighties take fair turns here.
What exactly does a Nightie do?
You’re the “heart and soul” of the night. You check and complete the end-of-day closing, take care of the invoices, prepare for the next day and, at the same time, are the first point of contact for late-arriving guests. Not a security job, but a genuinely exciting, varied and guest-focused job at night.
How does the training work?
You’ll be personally trained by an experienced Nightie or Night Audit Instructor (NAI). How long it actually takes depends mainly on your prior knowledge. Training often takes 5-10 days, but it can also take longer or go faster. In any case, we make sure that after training you can carry out your tasks very independently. Even so, after training you’ll still have a “mentor” you can call at any time. We have our own onboarding tool and regular training sessions (including on new hotel systems such as Opera Cloud).
Will I get to know other locations too?
Are there opportunities for advancement at wilkon?
Yes! Many of today’s team leads and Night Audit Instructors started out as Nighties. Depending on the location and how you develop, there’s the opportunity to move up to Night Audit Instructor. In this role we expect a certain willingness to travel, because you’ll also support taking on new clients at other locations. On top of that, you become something like the person in charge of Night Audit at your location – you support and train new Nighties, are the point of contact for the staff on site, and contribute significantly to the quality in your region.
